Cybersecurity & Protection
Security is more than removing a virus. We help homes and businesses review common risks, strengthen account and device protections, and plan for recovery if something goes wrong.
We can discuss the situation, determine what evaluation is appropriate, and confirm the scope and price of any work before proceeding.
Security services to discuss
- Computer and account security reviews
- Multi-factor authentication and sign-in protection
- Malware and ransomware prevention guidance
- Windows and Microsoft 365 security settings
- Firewall, Wi-Fi and access-control considerations
- Backup and recovery planning, including restore testing
Concerned about an active incident?
If you suspect ransomware, a compromised account or data exposure, contact us promptly. Avoid deleting evidence or running random cleanup utilities. Response steps depend on the situation and should be evaluated carefully.
For existing infections, see Virus Removal and Ransomware Removal. For ongoing business support, see Business IT Support.
What a computer security review can cover
Not every Houston household or office needs the same security setup. We begin by discussing the computers, accounts and network equipment involved and the symptoms or risks you are concerned about. For a home computer, that may mean checking unwanted software, browser extensions, updates and account sign-in protections. For a small business, the discussion may include Microsoft 365 access, staff accounts, shared files, remote access and backup practices.
Depending on the agreed scope, practical improvements may include enabling multi-factor authentication, reviewing who has administrator access, checking Windows security settings and confirming that critical files have a usable backup. A review identifies priorities; it is not a guarantee that a system is free from every threat.
If you suspect a security breach
If a computer displays a ransom demand, an account begins sending messages you did not authorize, or files suddenly become unavailable, avoid experimenting with unknown repair tools. If an active attack is suspected, disconnect affected equipment from the network when safe to do so, preserve the details of what happened and contact a qualified responder. Do not erase or reinstall the system before deciding whether data or evidence must be preserved.
Use another trusted device to review affected account sign-ins and change compromised passwords. If sensitive business information may have been exposed, the organization may need legal, insurance or specialized incident-response assistance. We can discuss repair, ransomware assistance and data-recovery options; availability and scope depend on the incident.
Security improvements after the immediate problem
Recovering from malware is only one part of protecting a computer. A practical follow-up plan may include software updates, account recovery information, phishing awareness, a separate protected backup and a test of the restore process. For Houston offices that want scheduled upkeep, ask about ongoing managed IT services. For a one-time firewall, Wi-Fi or Microsoft 365 problem, start with business IT support.
We explain the recommended work before proceeding and do not promise that every compromised account, encrypted file or failing drive can be recovered.
Start with a practical assessment
Tell us what you want to protect, what systems you use, and any symptoms you've noticed. We'll discuss appropriate next steps and confirm service availability.
Request Security AssistanceServices that support security and recovery
Computer Security Services can include assessing system and account exposure, endpoint protection planning, security software setup and firewall advice. We discuss which steps apply to your equipment and existing subscriptions.
For an active infection, review virus and malware removal. For encrypted files or extortion messages, see ransomware response. We can also coordinate firewall and VPN support and ongoing business IT arrangements.
