What can cause a laptop screen to fail?
A visibly cracked LCD may need a replacement panel. A screen with no picture, flickering or lines can also involve a display cable, backlight, graphics hardware or startup issue. Correct diagnosis helps prevent an unnecessary panel replacement.
Tell us the laptop brand and exact model, whether the computer turns on, and when the problem began. Panel type, touchscreen capability, resolution and connector placement vary by model.
- Cracked, damaged or bleeding LCD/LED panels
- Vertical lines, flicker or distorted display
- Blank or dim screens and backlight issues
- Display-cable or hinge-related screen problems
How our screen repair process works
We check the symptoms and discuss whether the display panel or another component is most likely involved. Compatible replacement screens are identified using the specific laptop model and panel requirements; availability and pricing depend on the parts.
Do not press on a cracked panel or repeatedly bend a damaged hinge. If the computer was dropped and contains important files, tell us before testing.
Other repairs often needed with screens
A drop can damage hinges, bezels, internal cables or the case as well as the LCD. We can discuss associated laptop repairs, MacBook troubleshooting and data recovery if needed.
Laptop LCD repair questions
Can every screen be replaced? Many models can be repaired, but parts availability and assembly design vary. We will explain the options for your model.
Is a black screen always a broken LCD? No. A power, graphics, backlight or cable issue can look similar. Testing helps identify the cause.
Evaluation and repair options
Bring the equipment to The Computer Hospital at 3512 Travis Street, Houston, TX 77002. We can discuss an initial evaluation, model-specific requirements, parts availability and the estimate before any paid repair. Some issues require additional diagnostic work; charges are explained in advance.
